Oulipo in Asheville

This month, Oulipo will turn 50, and to celebrate this wonderful occasion, the Department of Mathematics and the Department of Literature and Language at UNC Asheville will host a 2010 Conference on Constrained Poetry.  I am thrilled to be one of the presenters.  Lee Ann Brown will give the keynote lecture called “Condensations and Equations: Poetry/Math,” Kristin Prevallet will give a performance based on literary constraint, and Rick Chess will talk about “Kabbalistic Calculations.”  Equally as exciting — there will be talks by scholars outside of poetry: there will be mathematical, literary critical, historical, and new media perspectives as well.  Click here for more information about the conference.
